Texas A&M System CIO Council

Charter

The Texas A&M University System CIO Council (TAMUS CIOC) provides leadership for System-wide Information Technology initiatives. It facilitates collaboration on all aspects of IT governance between the nine universities, seven state agencies and Health Science Center. TAMUS CIOC provides advice on the development of System IT policies and regulations, monitors State and Federal legislative initiatives, collaborates with university/agency leadership and works on IT System-wide strategic planning.

  • IT Governance Update
  • Update on System IT policies. Brian is working with Carl on the review of the current IT policies, recommending and IT section (29 is reserved) and we discussed the following possible system policies:
  • Software Licensing (starting with the TEEX policy, Rick is helping)
  • TAC 202 related policies but generic. Individual campuses or agencies could further define with a SAP referencing the system policy.
  • Security of Info Resources and Records retention (at least saying it’s not an IT function exclusively)
  • Enterprise Risk Management and IT risk management support
  • Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity-Address that this is an overall business plan
  • Shibboleth Update – the results of Tarleton and TAMU’s efforts
  • New System wide faculty evaluation system update
