Instructors Guide Photo Album in Power Point
Supplies:
- Computer(s) with Power Point 2003 installed
- Projector
- Handouts
- Simple Exericse Handout
- Copy of “Photo Slide Shows in PowerPoint on the Fly” from the Tech Ops BLOG
- Files needed for students (in case they do not bring their own):
- 4 to 6 jpg photos
Opening Comments:
Many of us use PowerPoint and we often incorporate digital photos. Well PowerPoint has a feature called PhotoAlbum that can really make using photos simple and fun. Welcome to PhotoAlbum!
Session Instructions:
If you have PowerPoint installed you already have the Photo Album Feature.
Let's jump in. I will walk you through it, you can follow along. After that you will have an exercise to follow that will lead through again for more practice
Walk Through (Let them follow you, other instructors can float around room and help):
1. Start PowerPoint
2. Go to Photo Ablum – Choose Insert > Picture > New Photo Album
3. Import Pictures
- Point out options – From File/Disk, From Scanner/Camera
- Import 4 photos from examples
4. Point out Options
- Point out how to reorder photos (up and down arrow buttons)
- Point out rotate, contrast and brightness buttons
- Point out new Text Box button. Allows you to insert a slide and add test later
5. Album Layout Options
- Point out the options Fit to Slide – 1 picture per slide covers full slide
- Quickly show the 1,2,4 picture options
6. Frame Shape:
- Quick show some of these options
- Point out how they work in combination with the Layout
7. Design Template
- Allows you to choose a PowerPoint Template for the background.
8. Create the Photo Album
- Click Create
- Point out the slides
- Point out that they now go back and fill in text, add more slides and feature.
9. Be sure Save !
10. Handy Tips
- To edit the Photo Ablum go to Format > Photo Album
- To make the show self run
- Click - Slide Show > Slide Transitions
- Change Advance Slide to Automatically and set 5 seconds
- Be sure to “Apply to All Slides”
- Another way to set timings is to use the Rehearsal time feature
- Click – Slide Show > Setup Show > Rehearsal Timing
- To make show loop over and over
- Click – Slide Show > Setup Show and Check Loop Continuously
That’s it. Now have them completely exit PowerPoint and start over using the Exercise and the BLOG handout as reminders. Ask them to keep it simple and give them a time to be finished.
Learn PowerPoint’s Photo Album
1. Start PowerPoint
- Start > All Programs > Microsoft Office > PowerPoint
2. Click Insert > Pictures > New Photo Album
3. Use Import 4 Photos from your files or from the provided examples folder
4. Choose an Album Layout
5. Choose a Frame Shape
6. Optional - Choose a Design template
7. Create the PhotoAlbum
8. Remember to save your Power Point!
9. Now go back and change your layout or Frame Shapes.
- Hint: Look under Format > Photo Album to return to editing
10. Try setting up the automatic timing
- Hint: Look under Slide Show > Transitions
Tip You could have a Phtoto Album timed show embedded in a PowerPoint Presentation
to make showing a servies of photos easier for you and more enjoyable for your audience.
