OK, this is your space to play with how a wiki works, and test a few wiki tagging tools. Before you can do this, however, you need to create a login account and actually log in. Use the "create an account" link in the upper right corner of the wiki window.

Then, once you have logged in, you can edit anything you find on this page by selecting the "Edit" tab at the top of this page. You can also comment on the page by selecting the discussion tab. Or, you can actually view all the changes, including comparing any two prior versions of the document, by selecting the history tab.

If you want to use the WYSIWYG tools above, give them a try. But, I'll try pointing out a few tags.

To make something Bold, either block the section you want to bold and click the bold tool, or just put three single apostrophes before and after the bold section.

To italicize something, use the italics tool, or put two single apostrophes before and after the italicized section.

To make something bold and italicized, use both tools, or put five single apostrophes around that section.

To create a new wiki page, or to link to an existing one, place the name of the new wiki page between a double set of brackets.

To create a major heading, place two equal signs on either side of the name of the heading; just be sure the first set of equal signs starts at the left margin of the page like this:

Major Heading

Then, you can create a subheading by placing three equal signs on either side of the name of the subheading, again being sure to put this on the left margin like this:

Subheading

Just a couple more tags. If you want to indent a section of your document, place a colon ":" against the left margin of the first line of that section.
If you want to indent even further, put two colons on the left margin.

Then, if you want to create a bullet list, place an asterisk "*" on the left hand margin.

  • First List Item
  • Second List Item
  • Third List item.

Sub bullets are created by using double asterisks.

  • Main Bullet
    • First Sub Bullet
    • Second Sub Bullet
    • Third Sub Bullet

Numbered lists work similarly, but using the "#" character against the left margin.

  1. First main item
  2. Second main item
    1. Second item-sub point 1
    2. Second item-sub point 2

Finally, you can separate sections of your page by using the horizonal rule, initiated by using that tool, or entering 4 hyphens against the left margin like this:

So, now it's your turn. There are a few more wiki tags that can be useful, but those outlined above take care of most of peoples' needs. Just a couple more items. When you click the Edit link at the top of a page, a text editing window appears. All you editing occurs in this text window. No changes you make are actually saved until you click on the "Save page" button at the bottom of the text window. However, it is always good to preview your page prior to saving it, and you can do that by clicking the "Show preview" button.

Good luck, and happy wiki'ing.
